Elsa Peretti for Tiffany inspired Chain Ring

This tutorial will show you how to make this ring, which was inspired by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany's Diamonds by the Yard Collection. Always timeless and chic, this ring is sure to liven up your outfit!

If you saw my DIY Inspiration post, you know that I love this ring and was immediately inspired to make my own ring that was inspired by this one:
The formal sparkle of the ring is quickly balanced by the dainty chain, which is simply lovely. I just had to make my own.

Step One: Gather your materials: one rhinestone, one setting with two loops (I used one from the Martha Stewart Collection from Michael's), and a length of chain (measure the chain around your finger to determine how much you'll need). Not pictured is a pair of pliers.

Step two: Insert the stone into the setting and then clamp down each prong.

Step Three: Attach each loop to the chain, forming your ring.

There you have it: a simple and dainty ring that will complete any outfit!

Marc Jacobs Inspired DIY Hex Nut Earrings

Marc Jacobs' hex nut and bolt jewelry is simply fabulous. His pieces, like the ones below, have inspired my latest DIY project.

For this tutorial, I will be making a pair of earrings that use one hex nut, like the first picture above, but I will be using a hex nut that is a different color than the chain, like the second image.

Step one: Gather your supplies: Two hex nuts (I used silver tone), two lengths of chain, two jump rings, and two earring wires (for the chain, rings, and the wires, I used a rose-gold tone) (Not pictured are one pair of pliers).

Step Two: Thread one length of chain through one hex nut.

Step Three: Attach the chain to a jump ring.

Step Four: Add an earring wire to the jump ring.

Step Five: Close the jump ring and VOILE! You have a chic pair of earrings inspired by the incredible Marc Jacobs.

DIY Inspiration--Chain, Chain, Chain

Right now, I'm loving chains. These pieces all incorporate some kind of chain, whether they be dainty, chunky, or jeweled.

Pockets and Paillettes

Right now, I'm loving paillettes and sequins--really anything that shines and sparkles. What goes well with sequins and paillettes? Pockets!

A perfect example of a gorgeous and glamorous pocket is Gwyneth Paltrow's Prada dress from the 2012 met Gala.

For those of us who don't have an occasion (or the money) for such a dress, an embellished pocket on a t-shirt or tank top, like these, will do just fine.

That's where I got the inspiration for my latest DIY project. My blue and white polka dot tank needed something, but I could never put my finger on exactly what. After rummaging through my supplies, I stumbled upon gold rectangular paillettes and I just couldn't say "no." This tutorial will show you how to turn your tired old top into this:

So, first, I gathered my materials: the shirt, my paillettes, a needle, and thread. My paillettes are from M&J Trimming. They have a wonderful selection and are by far my favorite craft store.

Before sewing, I laid out the paillettes to make sure that I liked the way they looked.
Then, I started sewing my paillettes to the pocket, making sure I didn't sew the pocket shut. If you don't know how to sew on paillettes, here's a great tutorial.
And I kept sewing...
...until, finally, the paillettes reached the other side of the pocket. When I was done, I knotted the back and snipped off the excess thread.

And there you have it: an easy way to spruce up an old tank top. Hope you enjoyed and, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas, please comment below!

Temple University: New School and a New Look

Well, it seems that I have not been active on this blog in almost six months. The last time I wrote here, I was a high school senior in New York. Now, I'm a freshman at Temple University in Philadelphia, and I couldn't be happier. I see so much fabulous fashion around me that I thought I should get back into the swing of things.
So, what have we missed in my life? Oh yeah! I got a killer haircut from the Andre Richard Salon.

Also, I now wear a lovely pair of bright red Marc Jacobs glasses. After kvetching about headaches and blurry vision for a while, I finally got glasses, and--holy crap--I can see.
So, now that we've taken care of the changes, let's look forward to some wonderful new DIY tutorials and posts about fashion, beauty, even some opinion pieces.
